Vlasti Wind Trail : VALOREM brings together sport and energy transition around the Magoula wind farm in Greece

On Sunday, June 7, the village of Vlasti, in the Kozani region of Greece, hosted the Vlasti Wind Trail, an initiative created by the VALOREM Group. Organized under the auspices of HWEA (Hellenic Wind Energy Association) and with the support of our sponsors AirEnergy, Thestamar and Misko, this first edition was held as part of the celebrations for Global Wind Day.

The event welcomed 120 runners who competed in two demanding race distances: 9 km and 21 km. Both courses featured significant elevation gain, providing participants with a challenging and rewarding experience in an exceptional natural setting. Runners followed mountain trails around the ANATOLIKO ASKIO – MAGOULA Wind Farm.

On Saturday evening, a pasta party brought together runners, volunteers, partners, and organizers in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere ahead of race day. The gathering marked the start of the race weekend, giving everyone a chance to connect, share their excitement, and enjoy time together before the challenges of the following day.

Commissioned in 2024 by the VALOREM Group and operated by VALEMO, the wind farm generates 57 GWh of renewable electricity annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of nearly 13,000 Greek households. As a true symbol of the energy transition, it provided the ideal setting for a day dedicated to sport and nature.

Through this initiative, VALOREM aims to promote a more sustainable lifestyle by placing physical activity, environmental awareness and well-being at the heart of its actions. The event also aimed to strengthen ties between the local community and the development of renewable energy, while highlighting the positive benefits for the region, particularly through the promotion of ecotourism. Throughout the day, moments of sharing and conviviality reflected VALOREM’s commitment to a responsible and inclusive energy future.

VALOREM warmly thanks all runners, volunteers, sponsors and residents of Vlasti for their enthusiasm and commitment, which contributed to the success of this first edition.
