Magoula wind farm

The Magoula wind farm
Located in northern Greece, the Magoula wind farm embodies VALOREM Group’s commitment to the energy transition. Launched in 2019, the project successfully achieved key milestones, securing all its permits and completing financing in 2022. Construction began in 2023, leading to commissioning in summer 2024.
Equipped with six VESTAS V150 turbines of 4.5 MW each, the wind farm boasts a total installed capacity of 27 MW. Its annual production is therefore estimated at 68 GWh, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 18,000 Greek households.

1 A project to promote energy sovereignty
The construction of the Magoula wind farm spanned over a year, bringing together local and international teams to manage a complex logistics operation adapted to the specific features of Greece’s mountainous.
Among the key infrastructure, 11 kilometres of new roads have been built to facilitate access to the site. These roads also improve connections between several surrounding villages, bringing lasting benefits to the area.
To enhance the durability of the infrastructure and its resilience to climatic conditions, drainage systems and snow protection equipment have been incorporated into the project.
Finally, to minimise the visual and environmental impact by avoiding the installation of new pylons, an underground medium-voltage line has been built to connect the wind farm to the existing Gratsiani substation.

2 A PPA to secure production
As part of this project, VALOREM Group signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This long-term contract reflects the two companies’ shared commitment to sustainable energy sovereignty in Greece. It ensures a stable feed-in tariff for the electricity produced, providing long-term economic visibility for the wind farm while contributing to the stability of the national energy market.
